This mulled wine with frozen sour cherries, honey, and grape honey not only warms you up but also boosts your circulation. The gentle sweetness of honey and grape honey perfectly balances the refreshing tartness of the sour cherries.
💡 Tip: No need for expensive wine. Even a simple dry red wine works beautifully, as spices like cinnamon, star anise, and cloves create a rich, aromatic flavor that will delight your senses.
Recipe for 2 Glasses
Ingredients:
- 6 orange slices (2 slices for serving at the end)
- 3 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2,5 cm fresh ginger/ 1 tsp ground ginger
- 3-4 cloves
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp grape honey
- 3 cups dry red wine
- 1/2 cup frozen sour cherries (pitted)
- zest of half an orange
Instructions:
- Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer gently for 15 minutes, without bringing it to a strong boil, in order to preserve all the aromas.
- For serving, place 1 slice of orange and 1 tsp of grape honey in each glass, then pour in the hot mulled wine.
