Directions

Warm up with luxurious, rich hot chocolate and travel to the ancient world of the Mayans and Aztecs.
This spicy version with chili flakes will create a warming and tingling sensation on your taste receptors and will enhance the intensity of the chocolate flavor.
A recipe with a less sweet, intense dark chocolate and cocoa flavor, is a taste profile closer to the original drink.
Ingredients
1 cup milk (250 ml)
2 teaspoons cocoa powder (or ground cocoa beans)
70 grams dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
1/4 teaspoon chili flakes
1 teaspoon corn starch
Decoration
4 squares dark chocolate

Preparation
In a small pot, mix the milk with two teaspoons of cocoa powder, cornstarch, and chili flakes. If you have it, you can use ground cocoa beans as a substitute for cocoa powder.
Heat the ingredients over medium heat until they come to a boil. Once boiling, simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, constantly stirring with a whisk to prevent lumps from forming.
When you reach the desired thickness, finally add 50 grams of dark chocolate and stir until the chocolate is completely melted.

Serving
Pour the prepared hot chocolate into two mugs and decorate with pieces of dark chocolate, serving immediately while it is hot.
You can enjoy in this drink as cold version, as well.
