French toast with kiwi is a classic breakfast with a fresh, fruity twist. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and enriched with vitamin C from fresh kiwi, this recipe is a perfect choice for a quick, light, and nourishing start to the day.
It’s also a great way to use up stale or slightly dry bread and turn it into a delicious homemade meal.
Ingredients
- 6 slices of firm bread (stale or slightly dry)
- ½ cup milk (125 ml)
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon honey
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
- A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- 2 kiwis, diced
- A pinch of salt
Preparation
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, honey, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Add cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
- Briefly dip the bread slices into the mixture, allowing them to absorb the liquid without becoming soggy.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Fry the bread slices on both sides until golden brown and fragrant.
- Serve warm, topped with fresh diced kiwi for a refreshing, slightly tangy flavor.
Tip: For extra sweetness and creaminess, add a drizzle of honey or a spoon of yogurt.
