A Refreshing Summer Cocktail with Tropical and Tangy Notes

The Margarita is a classic Mexican cocktail that originated in the 1930s or 1940s, made from a combination of tequila, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice.

The Frozen Margarita came later, blending the ingredients with crushed ice to create a slushy, refreshing texture. Adding green apple (sour apple) gives this version a sweet and tangy twist, perfect for summer evenings or gatherings.

Frozen Sour Apple Margarita is ideal for those who enjoy a balanced, sweet-tart, icy cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 40 ml tequila
  • 20 ml green apple liqueur
  • 120 ml fresh pineapple juice
  • Crushed ice
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)
  • Sea salt or Himalayan salt (optional, for rimming the glass)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the glass:
Rub the rim of the glass with a lime wedge, then dip it into a plate of sea or Himalayan salt to create a salted rim (optional).
  2. Mix the cocktail:
In a shaker, combine tequila, green apple liqueur, fresh pineapple juice, and crushed ice. Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
  3. Serve:
Pour into the prepared glass, garnish with a lime wedge, and add a straw if desired.

Serving suggestion:

This cocktail pairs perfectly with arugula pesto and baked tortilla chips – an ideal summer appetizer.
