A delicious dish that pairs perfectly with chicken.The best mashed potatoes come from old (starchy) potatoes boiled whole – this prevents excess water absorption and ensures a creamy, silky texture.
Leeks are prepared separately and added at the end for maximum flavor.
Ingredients for Mashed Potatoes
- 4 medium potatoes
- 100 g unsalted butter (room temperature)
- ½ cup milk (preferably warm)
- 1 tsp sea salt (add at the end)
- Black pepper to taste
For Leeks
- 1 stalk of leek
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp salt
Preparation
- Potatoes: Wash, peel, and boil them whole.
- Leeks: Finely chop, fry in olive oil on medium heat until soft. Add a little water at the end and cook until evaporated. Set aside.
- Mashed Potatoes: Mash boiled potatoes well. Add butter in two portions for a silky texture. Gradually add milk to control consistency.
- Combine: Add prepared leeks, mix, season with black pepper, and add salt at the end if desired.
Serving Tips
- Serve with fried chicken or pork.
- Keep warm in a covered dish in the oven or on a warm stove until serving.
